An arrangement between Beijing Normal University and Cardiff University has been signed to establish a high level Chinese College in the UK with a global vision to teach Chinese language and culture and to further the understanding of current Chinese society, politics, culture, economics, education and law. This will enhance knowledge of the Chinese language and culture and foster translation and other professional skills, and thereby help you gain internationally recognised relevant skills and knowledge. The BA in Modern Chinese is the latest addition to a growing range of undergraduate degree programmes offered at Cardiff University’s School of Modern Languages. Distinctive features This programme is a unique and exciting opportunity for those attracted to China and Chinese, allowing you to study in Wales’ growing and multicultural capital, Cardiff and the political, cultural and educational heart of China, Beijing. You will achieve dual certification from both Cardiff University and Beijing Normal University (BNU): receiving a BA in Modern Chinese from Cardiff and a BA in Chinese Language and Culture Studies from BNU. As well as providing teaching in Mandarin to near native competency, this programme will allow you to become fully immersed in Chinese life via modules in Chinese history and modern day Chinese culture. These modules focus strongly on providing you with a great understanding of modern China, its culture, politics and economics. Vocational employability is embedded in the course with an integral internship opportunity included in Year 3 in Beijing.
