Course Summary

You will be prepared for social work according to the Health and Care Professions Council (2017) Standards of Proficiency for Social Workers in England (Revised standards effective from 9.1.2017), and the British Association of Social Workers (2018) Professional Capabilities Framework (Updated 2 August 2018). You will experience a significant component of practice-based learning, with Year 2 (70 day) and Year 3 (100 day) placements during your course, where you work alongside your own practice educator to develop your capabilities as part of the PCF. You will be supported and prepared for your work placements with a specialist practice module in the first year. This will involve students being videoed in role-play practice with service users, with feedback to support in the development of communication skills. You will be studying with lecturing staff who are HCPC registered qualified social workers with substantial experience across a range of social work settings.
