If you are interested in young children and how they learn and grow, this course will enable you to explore this fascinating stage of human development. The early years are a crucial time and you examine childhood from a range of perspectives. You gain the professional and academic skills, as well as the hands-on experience, you need to work with children. Thematic links to psychology, sociology, health and social work, and issues of policy and educational practice at both national and international level are also included.

The modules allow you to explore key aspects of early childhood education and care that are of a particular interest to you. They will also help to build up your academic skills in preparation for your final dissertation and prepare you well for progression to the next level, for example a PGCE or master's degree.
