Course Summary

This one year degree programme will enable you to further extend and apply specialist knowledge in any art and design practice in order to achieve an honours degree. You will receive close contact with specialist staff who will support you in developing a professional portfolio of art and design work which is informed by the conventions and debates within contemporary creative practice. You will develop the skills necessary to respond creatively to problems and demonstrate qualities such as flexibility and adaptability enabling you to develop and sustain a career in the creative arts sector.

Course Details - Modules

The academic, practical and technical elements of this programme are balanced so that you can either develop your skills to sustain a career in the creative industries as a 'maker' or pursue further study. The range of subject material supports these options as does the balance achieved through the study of core themes through self motivated practical and written projects. The core themes linked to the programme include: research and developing your practice to a professional standard; the historical contexts for art and design disciplines; current theories and contexts for art and design disciplines the contemporary creative industries; sustaining commercial and non- profit activities through art and design practice; promoting art and design practice. You will be encouraged to develop and awareness of current research through lectures, seminars, tutorials and access to international research in the field of Creative Art and Design Practice.
