On this course you will develop a wide range of knowledge, understanding and entrepreneurial skills required to succeed in business. You will learn how to run and manage a small business and also acquire the key competences that employers are looking for in today’s changing business environment. You will put theory into practice by using your current role at work to reflect upon teaching and to fulfil some of the assessment criteria. You will receive input from regional and local employers and expert staff, and, drawing on your previous and current work experience, you will develop your understanding of business and innovation principles.

On this course you will be able to develop your knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of business and the range of contexts and environments that organisations operate within. You will explore core business disciplines alongside the dynamic nature of enterprise, developing your creativity and innovation skills and promoting new ideas. You will engage with individual entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial organisations in order to develop your own entrepreneurial skills and knowledge. The business element of the course will equip you with an understanding of the scope and functions of business, as well as an appreciation of the internal and external environments in which businesses operate. The enterprise element explores the concepts and theories of enterprise and entrepreneurship, while examining organisational behaviour, the nature of creativity and the concepts of management and decision-making.
