Course Summary

The FdSc in Animal Therapy and Rehabilitation equips students with the knowledge and skills to work with sick, injured and recovering animals in settings such as veterinary surgeries, animal collections and animal welfare organisations. The focus is on canines but includes a range of small and large species (dogs, cats, poultry, horses, pigs, cattle, sheep and small mammals). Graduates may progress directly to work in this rapidly growing industry or take our BSc top-up. Students develop practical animal husbandry and handling skills, learn a wide range of therapies (including hydrotherapy, emergency management, massage, pre-treatment health checks, electro-therapies, laser, ultrasound, use of cold, touch and environmental therapies and homeopathy) and gain industrial experience, before researching their own research project.
