Apprenticeship

You could take a team leader and supervisor advanced apprenticeship.

  • 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and maths, for an advanced apprenticeship
  • 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) and A levels, or equivalent, for a higher or degree apprenticeship
  • Routes into this Career

    You can become a team leader or supervisor by being promoted from within your organisation. In a larger organisation, you may need to complete an in-house management trainee scheme.


    You'll usually need at least 1 or 2 years' experience in a job to apply directly for team leader or supervisor vacancies. Employers may also want you to have work-based qualifications and evidence of relevant training certificates for the industry you're working in.

    • carry out individual appraisals
    • keep up to date with regulations

    Working Environment

    You could work in an office, in a contact centre, in a factory or at a store.

    With training and experience, you could move into middle management and then senior management positions.
