Course Summary

The degree is based around the major disciplines within the profession, such as civil, structural, geotechnical, and water engineering. At UEL Civil Engineering has an excellent tradition and reputation. We offer a three-year course, with the option of adding a year-long placement working in industry. Your degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators, which is made up of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Engineers. Our high entry standards reflect the fact that each of our graduates will be heading for a professional engineering qualification.

Course Details – Assessment Method

We’ll assess you with a mixture of coursework and exams. Coursework includes individual laboratory and research reports, practical, design and project work, as well as group and tutorial presentations and a final-year project. Fifty per cent of the assessment in your first and second year is by coursework and we’ll give you as much feedback as possible so that you can develop and improve your written assessment submissions. In your final year, over half of your assessment will be based on design and research projects.
