Course Summary

This four-year course is perfect if you want a degree in Architectural Design Technology, but don’t have the standard qualifications. We prepare you for your degree during your Foundation year, bringing you up to speed with academic skills and a firm grounding in the subject. Then you can go on to do the full undergraduate degree. And it’s an exciting degree to study. The course blends architecture with building engineering, construction technology and management. Our team of architects and civil engineers will equip you with all the skills and knowledge you need for a rewarding career in this important field. As an architectural technologist, you’ll apply your expertise in building science and technology to architectural and construction projects. Because of your highly specialist skills, you’ll be involved in managing the design process and using your technical knowledge to come up with innovative solutions to problems. Taking advantage of our superb, industry-standard facilities, you’ll assess the technological factors that help produce the most effective and efficient technical designs. And you’ll learn how to manage a project from conception to completion, taking into account sustainability as well as regulatory and technical issues. Our lecturers are working professionals, with a wealth of practical experience in addition to their academic background. Thanks to our extensive industry connections, we’ll also help you find local work experience opportunities - or a placement year if you choose that particular option

Course Details – Assessment Method

We'll assess you in a variety of ways, including coursework, group and individual presentations, time-controlled assessments and exams. The balance between exams and coursework is approximately 15 per cent exams, five per cent presentations and 80 per cent coursework.
