Standard Qualification Requirements

•You will need to have achieved a standard equivalent to grade C or 4, or above, in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics. • If you intend to train to teach pupils aged 3 – 16, you must also have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade C or 4, or above, in a GCSE science subject. • A minimum of 72 UCAS credits in childcare/education-related course; or NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent • Minimum of 1 day or equivalent per week as a teaching or learning support assistant (paid or voluntary capacity) for a minimum of 25 weeks per academic year; or 2 years of recent prior experience working as a learning support professional in an educational context (minimum of 1 day per week.

Non-standard entry criteria: •Evidence of significant work experience or employment within the education sector. • You will need to be working towards a standard equivalent to grade C or 4, or above, in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics/L2 Functional Skills or equivalent. • If you intend to train to teach pupils aged 3 – 16, you will need to be working towards a standard equivalent to a grade C or 4, or above, in a GCSE science subject.
