The FdSc Supporting Innovation in Health and Social Care course will provide students with an academic and vocationally-oriented curriculum that establishes a firm understanding of the concept of Health and Social Care in a contemporary society. Furthermore it meets employer demand for higher level qualified practitioners who are compassionate and critically reflective and will enable students to develop their academic, personal and professional potential into employment within the local and regional health and social care sector.
It will meet academic standards that define what can be expected of a graduate in the subject, in terms of what they might know, do and understand at the end of their studies.
The programme will offer the student a range of perspectives throughout the duration of study involving multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary perspectives and professional perspectives. They will be given the opportunity to critically examine health and social determinants in a wide variety of contexts and focus on a range of which enable a critical examination of contrasting perspectives, providing insight into the human experience of health, social, physical, mental well-being, and illness.
The diversity of focus will explore the human experience developing reflective and critical evaluation of the many factors affecting health and its representations, in which attention is paid to the values, theories and professional perspectives that inform thinking and actions and an ability to engage actively in the discourses surrounding the concept of health and its representations.
In addition, skills and knowledge will continue to grow through the opportunity to experience working in a professional environment during a mandatory work placement.
