Course Summary

Get your career in sport off to the best start with this foundation degree. You will experience a challenging, high quality programme in sports and exercise science that has been designed to be relevant to the industry. This practical course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of the scientific factors that underpin performance in sport and exercise settings whilst also developing a strong understanding of the scientific methods of enquiry and problem-solving abilities. Students will get the opportunity to gain practical experience on a work placement. You will also have the opportunity to achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction in the first year, which allows accreditation with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) and will have the opportunity to pursue the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training in the second year.

All potential students will be required to attend and successfully complete an interview with the programme team. Those with non-standard qualifications are welcome to apply and will be expected to provide evidence of both interest and experience within a relevant sport and/ or exercise field along with an ability to meet the academic requirements of the programme through appropriate diagnostic assessment.
