At Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, we echo animation industry practice as closely as possible. You will work to briefs, learning about professional production practices within a variety of specialisms.
Our course is constantly developing to reflect an ever-changing industry, requiring graduates with new skills in new processes and software all the time. With graduate credits in Game of Thrones, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and the Disney Channel, our course is recognised for graduates who have the skills employers need.
Each student has their own workspace in our vibrant, friendly, industrious studios.
Subjects taught:
principles of character animation (2D and 3D)
narrative structure and storyboarding
character development and design
concept and production design
life drawing
acting
production scheduling
As you progress you will specialise in one part of animation production, such as 3D modelling and texturing, rigging, lighting and compositing, 2D layout and backgrounds, and 2D or 3D effects animation. Industry speakers and mentors will help you to develop your ideas. You will work in teams, bringing your specialist skills together to create short films that showcase your abilities, as well as individual showreels that demonstrate your highly employable skills.
Our art facilities include:

labs with software such as TV Paint, Photoshop, and After Effects
