The Foundation Degree in Exercise and Wellness Management provides a contemporary curriculum, developing you with a skillset that prepares you for a range of careers in this rewarding and internationally developing field of study. The programme offers a new and vibrant area of academic exploration that has been designed in recognition of the needs of the industry, through consultation with key employers including exercise, fitness and wellness industry professionals. The course focuses on the development of your skills and knowledge across disciplines in exercise and wellness to include: the understanding of the body from an exercise science perspective developing a functional knowledge in physiology and anatomy, exercise psychology, coaching and mentoring, corporate wellness, physical activity and nutrition, wellness industry from a global context, business management and entrepreneurial skills. The course aims to provide flexible learning opportunities to develop apply and reflect on the provision of wellness practices providing opportunities for you to advance a sound base of knowledge of the theories that underpin exercise and wellness management. A variety are used to assess learning including; • Online discussion • Individual and group presentations • Case Studies • Work placement reflective journal • Business plans • Essays and reports On successful completion of the programme there are opportunities to progress onto a linked BSc (Hons) degree in Exercise and Wellness Management programme at University of Worcester. The exercise and wellness sector is one of the largest and most diverse in terms of employment in the United Kingdom. The industry covers a wide range of areas with jobs such as health and fitness instructors, wellness lifestyle and coaches, wellness tourism managers, corporate wellness specialists, well-being personal trainers, and general management in venues such as fitness and wellbeing centres and spas for example.
