Course Summary

The BA (Hons) Counselling is for anyone wishing to become a professional counsellor. The programme. All students will be required to complete 100 hours placement hours over the duration of the programme; which will enable discussions of practice to take place, supporting students to link theory, policy and practice. The experiential learning element will allow the students to practice certain skills in the workplace and allow the students to critically reflect on practice. It will also help develop other attributes such as, communication and interpersonal skills. Throughout students must adhere to the ethical guidelines as stipulated by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). All students will be required to complete and log placement hours and to complete supervision hours, as specified within the BACP guidelines for professional practice. As part of the teaching and learning at UCNL students will receive clinical supervision which is a proportion of the hours required to comply with BACP membership.
