Our BA (Hons) Visual Communications degree encourages you to explore the most creative and original ways to communicate a message to any given audience. It provides an opportunity for you to experiment with multiple creative disciplines and topics, so that you gain a more comprehensive understanding of meaning, purpose, interpretation and design. You’ll learn how to communicate your ideas effectively across various media and practices, equipping you with new thought processes and reasoning behind your methods. This will help you produce an interdisciplinary portfolio of artwork that can span a range of areas including graphic design, illustration, web, moving image, comics, infographics, packaging and beyond. Throughout your course of study, your specialist tutor will support you and your work, enabling you to work both independently, ready for the world of visual creativity. So if you’re looking to create meaningful communications for a client base or for yourself, our BA (Hons) Visual Communications degree is for you.

This degree has three levels (HE4, HE5, HE6), each comprising 120 credits. HE4 - This level comprises 3 elective units. At this level, the emphasis will be on the acquisition of skills and good working practice. You will be introduced to other’s work through directed and self lead research, and will be encouraged to reflect upon your learning journey. HE5 - This level comprises 2 elective units. At this level, you will continue to develop and improve your skills and the quality of your work, whilst further underpinning your work with contextual research. You will start to develop a personal language and voice, and begin to articulate your own view, backed up by reasoned argument. HE6 - This level comprises 3 core units. At this final level, you will begin the transition from being a self motivated student to an independent artist/practitioner, demonstrating inventiveness, aesthetic judgement as well as originality. You will also gain an understanding of the professional arena and take ownership and responsibility of your practice.
