Whether it's fashion buying, merchandising, forecasting, management strategy, PR and marketing, branding or international business, you'll graduate with the knowledge and confidence to succeed. In the first year of your course, you'll be introduced to the fundamental principles of the fashion industry, creative business and management, as well as brand management and promotion, buying and merchandising. In your second year, you'll focus on finding your own specialist approach to work and be encouraged to start working more independently as you learn more about professional practices, visual merchandising and fashion forecasting. In your final year, you will achieve a greater level of independence, focusing on self-managed research, study and practice. You’ll then apply everything you’ve learned as you produce a unique, creative and industry-linked final major project. You’ll also complete a year-long Professional Practice Year within the fashion industry, which will provide you with an opportunity to apply what you have learned and further develop your skills and experience. Our graduates are highly employable, with a wide range of skills that are sought-after in the fashion business. Former students have progressed into careers working for household names such as Topshop, Burberry and Harrods.

Course Details - Modules

Year 1 focuses on developing your understanding of how the fashion industry works and the place of business within it. Alongside this you will explore the core business practices that are foundational to effective management of fashion businesses. If you opt to complete a professional practice year, this will take place in year three. You will undertake a placement within the creative industries to further develop your skills and CV. While on your Professional Practice Year, you will be required to pay a reduced tuition fee for that year. This fee will be determined using government funding regulations. Based on current regulations, we expect this to be a maximum of 20% of the tuition fee rate that you are charged for your second year of study. You will also incur additional travel and accommodation costs during this year. The University will provide you with further advice and guidance about this as you approach your Professional Practice Year.
