Fashion isn't always about the catwalk - there's a whole world of promotions, public relations and branding behind it. On our BA (Hons) Fashion Branding & Communication degree course, we'll help you become an expert in the fashion business. Taught at UCA Epsom's Business School for the Creative Industries, this course will develop your knowledge in fashion promotion, help you create your own brand identity and give you skills across a wide range of creative media, including photography, film, graphics, print, digital design, and Interactive media. You will learn and explore how brands communicate and operate through business and innovative thinking, and visualise your projects using software like the Adobe Creative Cloud suite as you develop ways to communicate your creative ideas to consumers. And after your second year of study you will head off for an exciting and enriching year-long work placement known as your Professional Practice Year, gaining vital experience to bring back to UCA for your final year of study, and beyond. By the time you graduate, you’ll be an expert in building lasting relationships and positive reputations through communication, self-promotion, networking and technology. *Course subject to updating.

In Year 1 you'll be introduced to the pathways of fashion promotion, photography and styling, fashion marketing, and fashion theory. You'll be introduced to the University and the technical workshops and facilities available to you. On the course you’ll learn the technical and conceptual skills that will give you a solid foundation from which to explore your areas of specialist activity. In Year 2 you'll study topics from the range of pathways, such as fashion forecasting and advertising, fashion marketing and PR, imaging as narrative, fashion space, fashion editorial, styling and photography as narrative, aligning and interrogating your images with theory. The focus is on finding your own specialist way of working and you’ll be encouraged and supported to start working more independently. During this year you may also have the opportunity to complete an industry work placement or even study abroad. In Year 3 you'll practice concept development, produce a dissertation or critical analysis, and a final major project.
