Art History, Theory and Contemporary Culture (with Integrated Foundation Year)
Course Summary
BA (Hons) Art History, Theory and Contemporary Culture (with Integrated Foundation Year) is a four year degree programme, including a foundation year to help develop your creativity before you embark on year one of a degree.
Our fascinating, in-depth BA (Hons) Art History, Theory and Contemporary Culture degree course will take you on a journey to discover the contexts in which contemporary art emerged from modern and postmodern practices in Europe and the USA after the Second World War - and how it established itself across the Americas, Africa and Asia.
As you study, you'll explore the growth of global contemporary art and the evolution of culture since the beginnings of decolonization in the 1950s.
You'll also learn about the ways in which contemporary art has been made, consumed - understanding the roles played by museums, galleries, auction houses, educational institutions and more - and thought about globally over the last century.
You'll graduate with extensive knowledge of the current state of contemporary art and its likely evolution
This degree has the option of integrating an International Foundation or Foundation Year to begin your studies. There is also an option to include a Professional Practice Year, giving you the opportunity to experience industry first-hand between the second and third year of your studies.
