If you are motivated and dedicated, with a passion for performing arts as well as an ambition to pursue a career in theatre, then this course is for you! Through it you will gain a wide variety of essential skills for working within the theatre industry or to continue your studies onto a HND and degree course in order to develop your skills further. The Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Performing Arts is aimed at combining creative and professional units to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work in the performing arts. Those learners who progress to HND in Year 2 of their studies will undertake their Higher National Diploma will be able to specialise in one of four chosen fields: Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance or Technical Arts. You will be tutored by teachers and practitioners working in the field with experience and knowledge across the industry. In addition, the College maintains strong links with local theatres, offering workshops and performance opportunities in partnership with these organisations. Additionally, guest lecturers from a variety of backgrounds are also invited to give you a valuable insight into real, professional and creative performing arts practice. The course has been developed in order to cover a broad range of skills and develop your understanding of how to create theatre for a contemporary audience. Units you will study are: - The Performing Arts Industry - Voice and Speech for Actors - Movement for Actors - Devising Theatre and Performance - Stagecraft - Professional Development Where can this take me? Successful completion of a Higher National Certificate in Performing Arts will provide you with a range of options when it comes to your progression. These include: - Applying to University to join in Year 2 of the relevant degree - Applying to University to study a full 3 Year degree - Applying to another University or College to top up to a full Higher National Diploma How will we support your progression? Through a series of initial 1:1 tutorials we will ascertain your preferred destination following your HNC. We will then support and guide you through the application, preparation, interview and funding stages that follow. Our lecturers have a wealth of experience when it comes to ensuring our learns are supporting to progress to the very highest level in their chosen industry.
