Upon successful completion of this course you will gain a deep knowledge of the human anatomy, focusing on the gross anatomy of the spine, upper and lower limbs. You will develop a sound knowledge and understanding of relevant pathophysiology so that you are better able to devise appropriate treatments for the conditions encountered in clinical practice. **Physiotherapy Assessment and Practice** From the onset you will be introduced to the underpinning principles of physiotherapy assessment and practice. These fundamental skills serve as a basis for clinical decision making and client focused goal setting in a diverse health and social care context. Assessment practices that reflect current clinical focus, such as health and wellbeing and physical activity promotion, health and safety requirements and client engagement within a bio-psycho-social context. As the course progresses you will advance your skills of assessment, clinical reasoning and intervention, not only considering the service user, but the service as a whole. **Evidence Informed Practice and Research** To meet the demands of an ever changing global healthcare landscape, all health professionals need to be able to quickly and effectively ‘grab and grapple’ with a different array of evidence sources, to make safe decisions for their patients and service users. To enable this, you will be provided with opportunities throughout the course to develop an in-depth understanding of evidence based practice and research. One of your first modules on the course will introduce you to the concept of evidence informed practice and research and study skills to support your studies at University level. The aim of this course is to develop your research skills during your time at University from being a consumer of evidence to carrying out your own independent research project in your final year. **Inter Professional Education** As a healthcare professional you will be part of an inter-professional team within which you will be required to work across professional and organisational boundaries to genuinely put the patient at the heart of their health and care. Inter-professional education is therefore a central component of all health and social care courses within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. You will experience authentic inter-professional learning opportunities throughout this programme of study and in so doing will develop a set of values and capabilities that are essential to becoming a collaborative practice ready professional with an understanding of “integrated working and learning”.
