Course Summary

This Informatics course enables you to ‘top-up’ your existing qualifications – an undergraduate level certificate, diploma or equivalent in computing or related fields – to the internationally recognised ‘honours degree’ classification. You can study the most recent developments in today’s web-intensive environment, such as cloud computing, rapid application development and cyber security. We aim to give you an understanding of the social, legal and ethical aspects of the modern computing environment. We focus on developing your technical skills, enabling you to practise and experience programming, virtualisation and cloud technologies within our specialist and general labs. You should also develop key competencies in critical analysis, application of software development, communication with technical and non-technical audiences, intercultural competences and digital literacy. Since its introduction, this programme has undergone a number of improvements and modifications to reflect the most recent developments in Informatics. In the latest modification, the overall structure of the course addresses the most recent developments in today’s web-intensive environment such as cloud computing, rapid application development and cyber security, in order to provide an excellent learning experience and relevance to the subject title. The programme also addresses the social and ethical aspects of the modern multi-cultural society.
