This course is for those of you that know you want to study sport but are still deciding between a career in teaching and coaching. You get the best of both with this degree. The modular approach to this will enable you to develop an understanding of the lifespan of athletic development of individuals who participate in sport activity, from early childhood fun to elite performance. Choice and flexibility are at the heart of this course and we will give you the autonomy to tailor your course to fit you. You will learn from the best; our academic team includes ex-senior teachers and an Olympic coach. Many of our students graduating from this course go on to teaching, whereas others will go on to work in clubs or as freelance coaches, feeds directly in to our teacher training courses. **Highlights of this course:** - Allows you to keep your options open - Modules in high-performance coaching - Option to swap between PE courses - Outdoor Education residential trips.

Our degree course is delivered on a modular basis covering academic and pedagogical studies. You will experience a variety of teaching methods across the modules including lectures, group work, seminars, practical workshops and laboratory sessions. In addition, there is individual directed work leading to research and enquiry. You are assigned an academic advisor who provides a personal link for the entire duration of your time on the course. Your own personal expertise and experience is valued to enhance the overall learning of the whole group supplementing the formal university input.

If you are an international student and English is not your first language, you can begin your 3-year degree programme at IELTS 5.5. Our International Route allows you to take 4 credit-bearing modules in International English Studies (IES) as part of your first year studies. This means you study 4 modules in your chosen subject and 4 in International English. The IES Modules allow you to focus on personal language development and your use of English as an academic language. Then, at the end of your first year, you’ll have all the necessary language skills to transfer to full study of your main subject. If you have an IELTS score under 5.5 you can still begin a 3-year degree programme with us. In this case we provide a 5 or 10 week intensive Presessional Programme in English language and academic skills. For the 10 week Programme you’ll need IELTS 4.5, and IELTS 5.0 for the 5 week Programme.
