The University of Chichester Conservatoire has one of the largest and liveliest musical theatre departments in the UK with a community of over 400 student performers. You will get to showcase public performances with professional production teams for regional tours, major art festivals and to create and premiere new commissions. The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and Acting for Film is a combination which allows students to choose their personal balance of singing, acting and dance work, whilst accessing a bespoke training in acting for film, voice-over, games and other media. In addition to taking part in two musical theatre productions each year in the second and third years of study, masterclasses given by visiting professionals in areas as diverse as stage combat and costume making provide exciting opportunities to work with leading practitioners alongside on campus, off campus and location film work.

The standard entry requirement for this programme is IELTS 6.0 with no element lower than 5.5. However, you can begin your 3-year degree programme with IELTS 5.5. Our International Route allows you to take 4 credit-bearing modules in International English Studies (IES) as part of your first year studies. This means you study 4 modules in your chosen subject and 4 in International English. The IES Modules allow you to focus on personal language development and your use of English as an academic language. Then, at the end of your first year, you’ll have all the necessary language skills to transfer to full study of your main subject. If you have an IELTS score under 5.5 you can still begin a 3-year degree programme with us. In this case we provide a 5 or 10 week intensive Presessional Programme in English language and academic skills. For the 10 week Programme you’ll need IELTS 4.5, and IELTS 5.0 for the 5 week Programme.
