Course Summary

Law with International Relations is a three-year, full-time degree. You will study all the elements of a Qualifying Law Degree, including Criminal Law, Tort Law, Contract Law and Public Law. You will also have the opportunity to study modules including Human Rights and International Environmental Law. In addition, you will study aspects of International Relations that examine Britain’s wider place in the world and offer you the chance to debate contemporary politics and international relations in the UK, USA, China, Russia, South East Asia, and Africa. You will gain expert skills in analysis, negotiation, international communication, and an underpinning in English and international law. A wide range of assessment methods will be used to assess these skills and module content, with a focus on coursework. This degree includes preparation for employment in the legal sector as well as across the areas of social activism, development, charity, administration, diplomacy, international sustainable heritage and corporate sectors. You will be provided with classes to help you prepare for the first Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination and the Qualifying Law Degree status means that it can be used to pursue a career as a Barrister. You will also have the opportunity to undertake a work placement to further develop your employability skills and put what you have learnt into practice. This course will: Provide you with a qualifying law degree Give you support in preparing for the first Solicitors' Qualifying Examination Develop skills of critical analysis and evaluation within an international relations framework Enable you to explore the twenty first century global challenges of terrorism, global warming, migration, climate and health Gain a range of transferable skills, from public speaking, networking, problem solving, communication and research methodologies and approaches
