This course has a long-standing reputation for its breadth of study. Drawing on the expertise of a highly professional teaching team and a range of visiting dance artists and choreographers we prepare the next generation of dance performers, choreographers, writers, dance filmmakers, teachers, somatic practitioners and community artists.
Our programme is divided into strands of study that include Dance Technique, Dance Practice and Production, and Dance Contexts and Research. In our third year the Applied Dance Practice strand allows students to engage with areas of dance practice and performance that are related directly to careers in Performance, Choreography, Teaching, Dance Movement Psychotherapy, Community Dance, Production and Administration.

- a daily technique class across a range of genres (contemporary dance, ballet, dance fitness, somatic techniques, and contact improvisation);
- all student choreography taken to production with public performances every semester;
- options to select areas of study that relate directly to your career aspirations;

- regular performances from visiting dance and theatre companies in the University’s Showroom.

Interview: Applicants will be required to participate in a dance audition (two and half hour practical) designed to assess your potential to respond both technically and expressively. Evidence of interest in and training / experience in dance is explored in a paired interview.

The standard entry requirement for this programme is IELTS 6.0 with no element lower than 5.5.
However, you can begin your 3-year degree programme with IELTS 5.5.
Our International Route allows you to take 4 credit-bearing modules in International English Studies (IES) as part of your first year studies. This means you study 4 modules in your chosen subject and 4 in International English. The IES Modules allow you to focus on personal language development and your use of English as an academic language. Then, at the end of your first year, you’ll have all the necessary language skills to transfer to full study of your main subject.
If you have an IELTS score under 5.5 you can still begin a 3-year degree programme with us. In this case we provide a 5 or 10 week intensive Presessional Programme in English language and academic skills. For the 10 week Programme you’ll need IELTS 4.5, and IELTS 5.0 for the 5 week Programme.
