This course is validated by University of Derby. It is a nationally-recognised teaching qualification which will allow you to teach in a variety of learning environments such as Further Education colleges, schools, adult and community education, prisons and public services. The course is designed to develop practical teaching skills and broaden your understanding of the contact in which teaching is carried out. This course is designed for those who want a career in teaching. To successfully complete this course you will need to undergo a minimum of 100 teaching hours over the two year course, therefore you will need a placement in a school or other educational setting such as a college. All applicants are subject to approval from the University of Derby. The PGCE is studied part-time over 2 years. You will be required to attend college lectures and seminars for 3 hours per week in the evening. You will also need to dedicate some time to self-study and research. Successful completion of this course can lead to variety of roles including: Further Education teacher, SEND teacher, Teaching in prisons, Other post 14 educational settings.
