This degree is for those who are committed to developing positive change for individuals and communities in pursuit of socially just alternatives. Social Justice and Community Action at the University of Chester will deliver graduates with the skills to make a real difference in the public sector and civic society. Our Department of Social and Political Science is committed to promoting social justice locally, nationally and internationally. Building on established links with local and national organisations, the Department of Social and Political Science provides students with innovative education with real impact. Our networks of community practitioners, charities, voluntary organisations, social causes, lobbyist groups, campaigners and national experts, as well as statutory service providers, complement an established team of professors, lecturers and researchers with experience in service delivery, activism and public social science, to deliver a rich and critical learning environment. From the start of the course, you will be encouraged and supported to engage with local voluntary sector organisations in order to apply theory to practice. Students on this programme will be taught by lecturers with local and national connections to activism groups and will also connect with local community practitioners to learn about their experiences.
