This course is designed for students who wish study the development and education of children from the ages of 5-11. It also prepares students who may consider Initial Teacher Education programmes in the future and for those who wish to work in settings and schools in a variety of employment opportunities such as mentors, teaching assistants, youth work, and special needs teachers. Foundation Year courses have been designed for students who do not have the necessary academic qualifications needed to enter directly into the first year of a degree but who have the ability and commitment to do so.

A Level General Studies accepted; Welsh Baccalaureate accepted alongside A Levels/BTEC/OCRs. We will also consider a combination of A levels and BTECs/OCRs. . Please note that GCSE grade C/4 or above in English (or equivalent) is required. GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths and Science are desirable. Prior to admission to this course, you will be required to obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check through the University, for which there will be charge. The cost of the disclosure is currently £55:00. Applicants are strongly advised to subscribe to the Disclosure Update Service, payable directly to the DBS and currently costing £13:00. Additional Fee Information

All students (except Internationals) on this programme will be eligible for a £500 cash bursary – only at level 3/Foundation Year. The tuition fee for the subsequent years of study on the full-time undergraduate degree will be charged at the undergraduate degree fee level. This fee is currently £9,250 a year for students starting in 2019 but this is subject to annual inflationary rises in line with inflation at that time, as measured by the Retail Price Index.
