Course Summary

Our course will prepare you to become a driven, reflective, safe practitioner. After completing the course, you will be able to register as a midwife on the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) professional register. Many of our graduates have progressed to work as advanced midwife practitioners, ward managers or have specialised roles within safeguarding, perinatal mental health, fetal medicine, public health, normality, homebirth teams or in caring for specific groups, such as teenagers.

Course Details – Assessment Method

Assessment of theory includes examinations, essays, and critical incidents, reflections on practice, presentations and case studies. Practice is assessed using skills assessments, structured examinations and assessment of professional behaviour. All assessment meets the criteria set out by the NMC.

Access to HE Diploma, to include 45 credits at level 3, 30 of which must be at Merit or above and 15 Level 3 Biology credits at Distinction

In the subject Applied Science. Other BTEC subjects will be considered but must be combined with A Level Biology, Human Biology or Applied Science. Please note we do not accept Health and Social Care in place of Biology.

A Level General Studies accepted; Welsh Baccalaureate accepted alongside A Levels/BTEC/OCRs. Please note that applicants must also have evidence of recent study within the last 5 years.
