Mental health nursing is a specialist professional course that enables you to make a unique contribution to the health and wellbeing of people of all ages who experience, or may be at risk of developing, mental health problems. Mental health nursing focuses on promoting recovery and improving outcomes for people experiencing mental health problems, based on the philosophy of holistic person-centred care, as well as challenging the stigma, discrimination and inequality often associated with mental illness problems.

Practice is assessed in the clinical environment by experienced, qualified practitioners using a Practice Assessment Record, which sets out the skills, attitudes and knowledge of practice to be measured.
