BSc Mathematics of the University of Chester is a successful programme with a very good reputation in the mathematics community of UK and has been run for more than 30 years. This course is mainly focused on Applied and Computational mathematics and is carefully designed to maximize students’ enjoyment of their mathematical studies. We have 100% students' satisfaction rate in 2020 according to the National Student Survey 2020 (NSS). The degree offers the communication and programme skills needed for a successful future career, and in demand from employers. Many real-life applications from biology, physics, and finance, as for example the evolution of tumor growth, game theory, the wave transmission through optical fibers, the prediction of stock prices, or even big data problems, involve mathematical models. We teach the analytical, stochastic and numerical methods of mathematical modelling. The syllabus also contains various topics from logic, number theory, graphs, optimal control theory and networks that are useful in cybersecurity, cryptography and supply chain logistics. In addition, we teach some popular modules like data analysis, machine learning and statistics, that provide expertise for jobs in data analysis companies, NHS, Banks, etc. 96% of graduates find jobs within 6 months after graduation. We have modules with teaching based on computer laboratories, or supplemented with computer laboratories taught hours. All mathematics staff are research active and internationally recognized with an extensive net of research collaborations with leading researchers in UK, USA, Germany, France, Japan, Austria, Australia, Sweden, China, Greece, etc. Many of our graduates, due to our programme of studies, have continued their studies at a Post graduate level or a PGCERT level in the University of Chester and in other UK Universities.
