Course Summary
**Discover the fantastic opportunities that a degree in Events Management can bring. Develop the skills and contacts to let you find your place in this fast-moving, exciting business.**
**Why Study With Us?**
Here’s a quote from graduate Andrew Bowles: “I’m eternally grateful for my three years at Chester Business School. The lecturers have real, practical experience and know what it’s like working on live events. Without them I wouldn’t be in the position I am in today.”
We bring events management to life with inspiring and real experiences. This means that we develop outstanding events professionals. You too, like Andrew, can progress to a great career.
Volunteering is an important element of your course. We will help you to really stand out when you enter the industry. We offer an exciting and diverse range of volunteering opportunities such as Chester Christmas lights switch-on, regional and national sporting events, music festivals and cultural events.
Our business campus is both state of the art and welcoming. This is a special and unique place that will enable you to flourish and grow from undergraduate student to confident events management professional.
You are a name here. We value your uniqueness. Throughout your degree course, you will be mentored and supported by a Personal Tutor. These are people who will support you through life’s challenges. You will also benefit from our Student Academic Representatives (StARs) who make sure that your voice is heard.
We will equip you with much more than events management subject knowledge. We will help you develop the extra skills that employers are seeking. The world of events management is highly competitive, but you will leave us with experiences that will give you an edge at interview and in the workplace. We work closely with the Association of Events Management Educators (AEME) to ensure content is up-to-date and industry relevant.
**Placement Year (4 year programme) offers the chance to either Study Abroad or carry out a year’s paid industrial work placement. Undertaking this employment opportunity further enhances your employability.**
Course Details - Modules
Your transformation from new student to future events management professional will begin from day one.
In your first year you will learn the fundamental concepts of events management and experience the events industry through field visits, speakers and practical activities. You will develop key management skills in marketing, service experiences, tourism and entrepreneurship.
In year two, you will develop your practical events management skills by creating and delivering a real live event to raise money for charity. You will start to shape your career path through an optional module and a 5-week work placement that suits your personal interests and ambitions. Previous students have developed events while working for companies such as Royal Caribbean International.
You will have the chance to undertake a year-long placement which really brings your course to life and will enhance your graduate employment prospects. How does a work placement at Disney or the British Racing Drivers Club sound? You may even have a year studying events management abroad in Europe, North America, Asia or Australasia.
Your final year is tailored towards giving you the competitive edge you need to succeed in events management. You will carry out an original supervised research project into a subject you select and complete a module designed to maximise your professional success. Everything you study will be relevant to events management today.
