**Course overview** - Our Sport & Exercise Science Foundation Entry degree course teaches you how sporting performance can be improved so you can help people achieve their potential. - Foundation Entry degree courses are ideal if you’ve got the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly join an honours programme. It’s a great stepping stone to a full degree. - You’ll be assigned an Academic Adviser who’ll give you additional academic advice and support during the year. Year 1: Fundamentals of Sport, Exercise and Nutritional Sciences, Essential Study Skills for Lifelong Learning, Professional Work Environments for Sport, Practical Sport, Exercise and Physical Activity Year 2: Principles of Physiology and Scientific Enquiry, Introduction to Sport Biomechanics, Introduction to Sport and Exercise Psychology, Planning and Instructing Exercise for Health and Fitness, Functional Anatomy Year 3: Applied Physiology and Scientific Enquiry, Sport Biomechanics, Sport and Exercise Psychology. Plus 2 Optional modules from: Professional Work Experience 1 or: Health & Fitness strand - Advanced Principles of Exercise & Training, Common Sports Injuries. Performance strand - Performance Nutrition, Performance Analysis for Sport Year 4: Research Project / Consultancy Project. Plus 4 Optional modules from: Professional Work Experience 2, Training Prescription for the Elite Athlete or: Health & Fitness strand - Biomechanics of Posture and Injury in Sport, Psychology of Diet and Exercise. Performance strand - Applied Biomechanics, Theory and Practice in Sport and Exercise Psychology, Performance Analysis for Elite Sport
