**Course overview** - If you like variety and would like to work in emergency and unscheduled care, then our BSc Paramedic Science is for you. Learn how to be a paramedic on this well-established course. - You’ll be involved in clinical simulation and clinical placements in the NHS, preparing you to deal with minor wounds and illnesses and respond to more serious incidents. **Why study with us** - Medicine at the University is ranked 3rd in the North West for academic support - National Student Survey (NSS) 2019. - This course is delivered in collaboration with the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) and all of our lecturers are either qualified paramedics or specialists in emergency care. - After graduating you will be eligible to register as a paramedic with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). **Further information** - Our student selection process is underpinned by the National Values Based Recruitment strategy. Course Details - Modules

In Year 1, you will study a broad range of clinical scenarios found in the out-of-hospital setting and gain relevant knowledge, clinical skills and behaviours for patient assessment, and appropriate therapeutic interventions. This is supported by an introduction to biomedical sciences and an introduction to the legal aspects within professional practice, alongside preparation for clinical practice in which you will be supported and supervised by a clinical practice educator. In Year 2, you will further develop your underpinning knowledge and clinical skills whilst completing modules addressing major trauma, paediatrics and obstetrics and the unwell adult. These subjects will be enhanced by attending various clinical placements within the NHS to allow you to apply your newly learned knowledge and skills. During your clinical placements, you will be supported and supervised by a clinical practice educator. In Year 3, you will further enhance your clinical skills and decision-making abilities by completing modules that support your transition into an accountable healthcare professional. This will be achieved by completing modules in enhanced clinical practice, leadership and research. Clinical placements augment the final year, which will take place within a variety of clinical based settings. As in the previous years, you will continued to be supported and supervised during clinical practice placements by a clinical practice educator.
