**Course overview** - The course is accredited by the professional body of HR professionals, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). On successful completion of the course students will gain Associate Membership of the CIPD and provide the foundation for a career and academic development at postgraduate level. UCLan has been delivering professionally accredited programmes in HRM for many years. - Many of our staff are members of the CIPD and have worked as HR professionals. Our academics actively undertake research related to HRM topics and draw upon this to inform their teaching. The Institute for Research into Work, Organisations and Employment (IROWE) is based in UCLan’s School of Management and students have the opportunity to attend research seminars and practitioner workshops which will give them access to current research on a wide range of topics. The workshops are well attended by local HR professionals and provide a good networking opportunity for students. - We are renowned for developing graduates who are highly employable and have strong entrepreneurial skills. This course offers a 48-week work placement opportunity where you will have the chance to work in a real business and gain vital work experience that will assist you in gaining employment when you graduate. In addition, you will have further opportunities for real-world work experience through short internships, volunteering and much more. You may also have the opportunity to study abroad as we offer a unique travel bursary fund where you can apply for funding to part-pay for your international study experience. - The course provides a foundation for students who wish to progress a career in the Human Resource Management profession. Year 1: Foundations in Human Resource Management and Development Practice, Introduction to Business Functions, The Business Environment, Business and Management Project Essentials Year 2: Managing People, Organisational Change at Work, Work Placement Preparation, Research Methods, Employment Law. Examples of options - one from: Project and Operations Management, The Global Environment of Business, Marketing Principles for Business, Enterprise in Practice: Planning & Developing a Business Model, Enterprise in Practice – Entrepreneurship & the Small Business Year 3: Workplace Learning, HRM in Context, Employee Relations, Performance and Reward Management, and one of the following: Analysis of Management Issues; or Management Report; or HRM & Leadership Dissertation. Plus one option from: Managing Consultancy Skills, Coaching and Mentoring, HRM in a Global Context.
