**Course overview** - Keen to work in youth justice, NHS trusts, private hospitals, children's services, social services, family centres or children's homes? Our two-year FdA Health and Social Care programme is for you. This work-based learning programme combines courses in health, social care and mental health and is aimed at meeting the skills required by the growing health and social care market. - The course aims to equip you if you are working, or intending to work in health and social care with relevant knowledge and skills, to address your continuing professional development needs and to bridge the gap between theory and practice. - During the course you’ll undertake two practice placement modules in which will enable you to develop a range of work-based skills. - This programme can lead to a wide variety of other courses and studies, including Social Work, Community and Social Care, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Operating Department Practice and Sports Therapy. **Why study with us** - We are 1st in the North West for teaching quality, learning opportunities, assessment and feedback according to the National Student Survey (NSS) 2019. - FdA Health and Social Care is ranked 1st in the North West with 87% of students satisfied with the learning resources (National Student Survey 2020). - There’s opportunity for international travel and work experience, including volunteering in countries such as Zambia and Kenya. **Further information** - The aim of the course is to produce a “practice-ready” workforce. We constantly update and develop the course in response to the Knowledge Skills Framework (KSF) and the NHS Knowledge and Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education frameworks. - You’ll meet the requirements of a range of professional codes of conduct, focusing on treating patients as individuals as well as ensuring that your own professional skills are up-to-date. - As part of the course you will have the opportunity to hear about the experiences of service users, carers, patients and public members via our community engagement and service user support groups (Comensus).
