- Do you want to develop your creative writing skills? We’ll help you to hone your talents, write in a wide variety of genres and work towards becoming a professional writer.
- On this course you’ll enhance your skills as a creative writer and gain experience of writing in a whole range of different styles and genres.
- You’ll study the development of ‘English’ as a multicultural literary landscape, and look at how issues of race, gender, class, national identity and ethnicity are explored in key works of literature.
- You’ll learn the skills you need to become a professional writer, gaining insights from experts who are enjoying successful careers in different fields of writing and publishing.

Year 1: Compulsory modules; Reading Texts: Literary Theory, Introduction to Renaissance Literature, Introduction to Creative Writing, Writing Identities, Plus two options from our English Language, American Literature or English Literature modules or an Elective in another subject in our School (e.g. one of the thirteen different languages we teach).
Year 2: Compulsory Modules; Live Literature Project, A World of Difference: Literature and Globalisation, Either Restoration to Revolution: Literary Culture 1660-1789 OR Romantics to Decadents: Literary Culture 1789-1900, Exploring Genre, Writing Adaptations, Plus a module from the list below: Optional modules; Reading and Writing Fairy Tales, The Graphic Novel, Reading and Writing Science Fiction and Fantasy, CSI: Literature, Creative Writing for Children and Young Adults
Year 3: Compulsory modules; Advanced Creative Writing Workshop, The Shock of the New: Modern and Contemporary Literature, Dissertation in English Literature OR Dissertation in Creative Writing, Plus two modules from the list below: Optional modules, Life-writing and Autobiography, Otherworlds: Reading and Writing Science Fiction and Fantasy, American Texts, Black Atlantic Writing, British Children’s Literature, Literature and Film
