**Course Overview**
- Computers are a ubiquitous part of our lives and there’s never been a more exciting time to design and develop the systems and software that permeates our work and leisure.
- The digital revolution is here. We live in a connected world, where even household appliances and vehicles can be connected to the internet and controlled by software. Rapid data communication and increasingly powerful devices provide exciting opportunities for the development of new applications.
- As well as studying the theoretical aspects of computer science such as algorithms, human-computer interaction and computational thinking, you’ll apply your understanding to developing solutions to problems in traditional software development and artificial intelligence.
- There’s an emphasis on software development, including databases and user interface design, and optional modules covering everything from Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the Internet of Things.
**Why study with us**
- This course has accreditations leading to MBCS and CITP exemption from The British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT. All graduates from this course are eligible to become Professional members (MBCS), with no further assessment.
- After completing your second year you can undertake a one year industrial placement. Most of these are UK-based, but our students have worked as far afield as Europe, Australia, Japan and the USA.
- You’ll benefit from our international research expertise in user experience, computer security, software engineering and agile project management.
**Further Information**
- During your first year you’ll study the same modules as students on our other computing courses. This gives you the flexibility to transfer to one of our other specialist courses if you would like to. These include Computer Networks and Security, Software Engineering, Forensic Computing and Security, and our broader BSc (Hons) Computing course.
