**Course Overview** - Take your love of computer games to the next level with our BSc Computer Games Development course. - Channel your passion for video games into your dream career. You’ll learn by doing, developing your own games using the high-performance kit in our Games Laboratory and software for use on your own PC. - Focusing on software development for computer games, we’ll prepare you for a successful career in software engineering and the games industry. - You’ll get to develop your programming expertise using C++, maths and problem solving. During the course you’ll study computer graphics, artificial intelligence (AI), game mechanics and effective practical software development. Our students have won the Games Programming award at the Aardvark Swift ‘Search for a Star’ nationwide competition more than any other university. **Why study with us** - This course has accreditations leading to MBCS and CITP exemption from The British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT. All graduates from this course are eligible to become Professional members (MBCS), with no further assessment. - You’ll get the opportunity to undertake a one year placement in industry. Most placements are based in the UK, but some students have worked in Europe, Australia, Japan and the USA. - Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Games Development is ranked 1st in England with 100% of students satisfied with their course (National Student Survey 2020) **Further Information** - This is a three-year BSc (Hons) degree. We also offer a four-year MComp (Hons) degree which offers an optional additional sandwich year in industry. Both degrees emphasise software development for computer games, but the skills you learn will prepare you for any career in software engineering. - Our MComp option offers you an integrated master’s degree. It’s ideal if you want to apply for jobs that demand a deeper knowledge in a specialised area. It’s also good preparation for research in computer science and its applications.
