**Course Overview** - Developed by community leaders for community leaders, our FdA Community Leadership programme, based at our Burnley Campus, gives individuals working at grassroots level the skills needed to make change happen. - You will develop skills in leadership, project development and management. Underpinned by the teachings of Paulo Freire, you will also gain a theoretical understanding of how to enhance sustainability within community projects and the tools needed for community regeneration. - Learning from the programme will be cascaded to peer groups through mentoring, empowering communities to take control of regeneration and positively improving community welfare. **Why study with us** - Sociology at the University is 3rd in the North West for teaching quality and assessment and feedback - National Student Survey (NSS) 2019. - The course provides excellent opportunities for international, national and local networking, which will enhance your employment prospects. - You can top up to a BA (Hons) in Community Leadership from where you can progress to the MA programme in Community Leadership. **Further Information** - On this course you’ll benefit from our Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership (CVCL) which enables you to get involved in projects which make a positive difference to people’s lives. They offer a range of volunteering projects in the UK and Internationally so you’re bound to find something that inspires you.

Year 1: Compulsory Modules; VO1001 Cohesive Communities, VO1002 Volunteer Health and Safety Management (students will undertake a certificate in H&S in the workplace as part of this module), VO1004 Community Culture. Optional Modules; VO1006 Volunteering and Community Action, VO1009 Gangs and Gun Culture, VO1010 Bullying Interventions Year 2: Compulsory Modules; VO2001 Mentoring in the Community (students can also take the ILM Award in Mentoring as part of this module), VO2002 Project Development (Students can also take the ILM Award in Social Return on Investment (SROI) as part of this module), VO2003 Community Leadership.
