Course Summary

**Course Overview** - The MChem – professionally accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) – is now the established mainstream route to becoming a professional chemist in the UK. - On our Chemistry degree courses you get to explore how the world works. Understanding the chemistry of materials means understanding the drugs that fight disease, the components that power modern tech, the pesticides that protect our crops and much more besides. Opportunities exist for you to undertake research internships, working on innovative research projects in our state-of-the-art laboratories. - For the first two years of this course, you’ll follow a similar learning path to our BSc programme, then during your third and fourth years the course steps up a gear. You’ll focus on more advanced, master’s level topics, with the option to specialise in either synthetic organic chemistry or materials/analytical chemistry. - With state-of-the-art facilities, we’re proud to offer what we believe is an unparalleled learning experience. So, when you graduate from the course, you’ll have both the theoretical knowledge and practical abilities you’ll need to become a professional and skilful chemist. You’ll be better prepared than most to understand the new environmentally friendly systems and processes the chemical industry is adopting – making you much more employable than most, too. **Why study with us** - Our Chemistry course is ranked 2nd in the UK - Guardian University Guide 2020. - Option to undertake a 48-week sandwich placement in industry between your second and third years. - Master of Chemistry in Chemistry is ranked 1st in the North West with 88% of students in graduate-level work or further study after graduating (Guardian University Guide 2021).
