The BA (Hons) PR and Marketing Management degree at Cardiff Met offers a defined focus on becoming a Public Relations specialist with a marketing degree. The degree has been developed in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) ensuring the teaching content is well aligned with industry expectations. All our marketing courses have a renowned reputation for their vocational orientation - becoming a 'Met Marketer' will enable you to gain the academic knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in a PR and marketing career. The new degree will seek accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and as such will enable students to develop the skills and ability to think creatively and adopt the latest tools in modern Public Relations. The PR landscape is undergoing significant change as consumer and organisations alike rely less and less on traditional media to disseminate and receive information and more and more on instant digital communications – appropriate skilled PR practitioners are more in demand than ever. This course offers students the chance to develop their knowledge and skills in the interlinked disciplines of public relations, media and marketing. Students will develop their talent for communication and learn how to identify a target audience, prepare effective messages and select appropriate PR channels. Students will learn how to use social media and develop creative design skills in response to the needs of the needs of the current marketing environment. Students will benefit from a multidisciplinary approach, taught by academic experts, experienced practitioners, guest speakers resulting in a ‘learning by doing’ approach. In addition to this, as a Met-Marketer you will be able to participate in our CIM Student chapter and follow in the footsteps of our award students by participating in the CIM based creative and entrepreneurial activities. The competition will give you enable you to experience what it is like to work for an marketing agency by working on a campaign for a well-known industry brand with the top 12-finalists being invited to pitch their ideas to the client face to face.
