Course Summary

Informed by industry needs, this Data Science degree will enable you to understand, apply and evaluate data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence principles. The degree will equip you with the in-demand skills to design and utilise data science systems, and use industry standard tools and techniques to address real world problems. You will also learn to develop novel data visualisation approaches to communicate the results of your analysis in a clear, meaningful way to help organisations make better decisions. A wide range of industry and government organisations have worked closely in developing the programme, creating challenging scenarios and assessments based on real-life cases. Preparing you to meet industry needs, the curriculum covers Blockchain technology - a first of its kind in Wales. You will also have the option to explore work experience opportunities and widen your international perspective through student exchanges and internships with European and international partners. Upon graduation, you will be ready to pursue a highly lucrative career as a data scientist, data analyst or related careers. Data underpins modern society, and as such, data professionals work across a multitude of industries and cross-functional teams. According to Glassdoor, Data Scientist is the 7th best job in the UK with a median base salary of £46,000 and an excess of 2,000 job opportunities across the country (data as of October 2019). If you have an analytical mindset, like to think and work outside the box, and enjoy exploring and analysing data to solve practical problems, then this is the programme for you.
