Course Summary

This Foundation degree (FD) programme is a work-based programme which means you work and learn at the same time. You will develop the effective use of knowledge, skills and core values that are relevant to future work or study in both social care and social work. It is designed to prepare people for active participation in the caring field or related career and has been designed with a perspective of practically-oriented higher-education which will ensure students are work-ready, employable and which also fully recognises the importance of the development of students’ interpersonal skills in this specialist field. It is a two-year programme accredited by Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) but studied for at the College, and successful students have the option to continue their studies to BA Honours level for a third 'top-up' year here at college or at CCCU’s own campus.
