Course Summary

This one year programme is designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding that underpin the study of sport. It is aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning and who want to pursue or advance their career in sport The course is an eight unit BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma, which may includes: • Physical Activity, Lifestyle and Health • The Sports Landscape • Project Management • Biomechanics • Nutrition • Anatomy and Physiology • Technology in Sport • Work Exposure Please note - units are subject to change. This course encourages an up-to-date DBS check to be in place, which can only be applied for through the college. Fees for the DBS check are set by the government and are payable to the college. For Home and EU students, a loan from the Student Loans Company is available to support learners with fees if applied for. These fees cover the overall costs of the course, including sports kits, guest speakers and day trips. You will be encouraged to take part in practical sport and coaching activities regularly throughout the course. You will encouraged to gain coaching and sports development experience through the coaching and organisation of some of the sports teams within the College. In addition to this, work experience placements will be offered with local employers, giving you valuable access to experienced practitioners of sports coaching and sports development as well as an opportunity to develop your own skills and knowledge. During your time on the course you will have the chance to attend extra residential activities. These may include: • Football (male and female) • Racket sports • Ski/snowboarding • Basketball • Netball • Volunteering Abroad (Morocco/Thailand) There is an extra cost for these activities.
