Course Summary

The course was devised in association with a variety of public, private and voluntary sectors, for example the Police, Armed Forces, Local Government, Probation, Youth Offending Teams and the Civil Service. The course encompasses a wide range of the public and private sectors and develops the skills and attributes that are fundamental in any public, voluntary or private service industry. The course team will use CRC's excellent links with relevant external agencies, for example, the Cambridge University Officers' Training Corps, Royal Marine Reserves, Army Reserves, Police Specials, County Councils for guest lectures and additional opportunities for students thus ensuring vocational experience is placed at the heart of this programme. For Home and EU students, a loan from the Student Loans Company is available to support learners with fees if applied for. These fees cover the overall costs of the course, including sports kits, guest speakers, day trips and additional courses that will be run throughout the year. The course is made up from the following units which are subject to change; • Organisational Structures and Cultures • Mental Health and Wellbeing • Equality, Diversity and Fair Treatment • Public Services and Contemporary Society • Modern Warfare and Conflict • Training for Fitness and Health • Personal Skills Development • Psychology of Behaviour You will also be expected to undertake a comprehensive physical training regime to fully prepare you for a successful career in the Services. Opportunities to be involved in the development and delivery of the Level 1 - 3 Uniformed Services Course will also be available to support you to develop the skills required to lead and motivate service personnel in the future. During your time on the course you will have the chance to attend extra residential activities.
