Course Summary
This top-up degree is flexibly designed to enable practitioners in community health, education, social care and policing to continue their professional development and expand their expertise in their practice setting. This work-based programme is open to students who have successfully completed a Foundation Degree or a Diploma in Higher Education.
This top-up degree has been specifically designed to those already in employment in a community health, education, social care and policing setting to meet their continuing professional development (CPD) needs and develop their expertise in their practice setting. This work-based programme is designed to help you develop your theoretical knowledge and expertise and enable enhanced practice and career progression. As a ‘top up’ from our Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care, it is an excellent gateway into managerial careers in care homes, residential homes, voluntary organisations, special schools and agencies providing domiciliary care. The client base you could work with includes young offenders, those with mental health needs, learning disabilities, the vulnerable, elderly and disabled.

Standard Qualification Requirements
For this course, students will have 240 credits within a specialist subject area so will have knowledge and critical understanding of their area of study and the way in which those principles have been developed. Students will be able to articulate and apply those principles in an employment context as a competent practitioner. It is expected that students will normally be employed but must have access to at least 6 hours of work experience a week. Applicants must have 120 credits at Level 5 in a field related to their award pathway and must be working in a relevant area of community health, education and social care
