The HND Applied Chemistry, is studied on a full-time basis. The course provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in their sector, placing strong emphasis on the effective use and combination of both knowledge and skills. Students will develop their skills, techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. Ideal for those employed in a variety of technical roles, such as: quality control, organic preparations, laboratory analysis, materials testing and research and education. The Higher National Diploma is referenced against professional body standards and meet the mandatory qualification requirements of the Level 5 Technician Scientist Higher Apprenticeship standard, providing apprenticeship status and progression to direct employment.
Course Details - Modules
At Level 5 there are two core units, which includes one unit assessed by a Pearson-set assignment. The units are: • Analysis of Scientific Data and Information • Applied Sciences Research Project (Pearson-set) The specialist modules include: Further Analytical Chemistry, Aromatic & Carbonyl compounds, Solid state & Transition metal chemistry, Specialist Scientific Techniques and Experimentation or Introduction to Pharmacology, Science Laboratory Management.
