The HNC Applied Biology, is studied on a full-time basis. The course offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via mandatory core learning, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience through specialist pathways and the selection of optional units across a range of occupationally relevant subjects at Level 4. The course aims to give those with an interest in biological sciences the practical and theoretical skills needed to progress in industry, developing technical competencies through a number of hands-on activities and experiments and the study of a selection of compulsory and optional units
Course Details - Modules
At Level 4 there are three core units, which includes one unit assessed by a Pearson-set assignment. The units are:
● Fundamentals of Laboratory Techniques
● Scientific Data Handling Approaches and Techniques
● Regulation and Quality in the Applied Sciences
The specialist modules include: Cell Biology, Fundamentals of Chemistry, Anatomy and Human Physiology, Microbiological Techniques and Personal and Professional Development for Scientists.
